Our Mission
The Arizona League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (“AZLCV Education Fund”) works to educate, motivate and engage citizens and organizations in the basic methods of effective non-partisan participation in the democratic process to further conservation goals. AZLCV Education Fund also coordinates and fosters cooperation among Arizona’s environmental and conservation organizations by providing them with tools to inform, expand and mobilize their members in non-partisan ways to become a more potent force in Arizona. AZLCV Education Fund seeks to build a more informed citizenry and a diverse network (or “base”) of pro-conservation activists that will work to protect and enhance Arizona’s natural heritage and environmental health.
Our Accomplishments
- Candidate Forums – AZLCV Education Fund has hosted several candidate forums on environmental issues in recent years. In 2008 we worked with our partners and hosted a candidate forum in Southern Arizona’s congressional district 8 and co-hosted a forum in Northern Arizona’s congressional district 1. In 2010 we worked with our allies to host a forum in Phoenix’s congressional district 3.
- Civic Engagement and working in new communities – In the last 18 months, AZLCV Education Fund has identified more than 4,000 new activists in rural Yavapai and Pinal counties who have called or visited an elected official about an environmental issue. AZLCV Education Fund will continue to work to Get Out the Environmental Vote and hold our elected officials accountable to their constituents.
- Working with the conservation community - AZLCV Education Fund continues to be a resource for allied organizations and individuals in Arizona. AZLCV Education Fund provides a unique perspective on environmental protection and we work to share our knowledge and expertise with the community.
- In 2010 we held our first annual Earth Night event in Phoenix. Click here for more information.
